Like athletes everywhere, tennis players in Italy have found innovative ways to train after the courts closed and sports activities ceased, with some even training on rooftops. This comes after the tennis club in Finale Ligure, a small town in northern Italy, closed its doors at the beginning of March as part of the Italian government's fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Media outlets have been circulating exciting images of promising young tennis stars hitting ball after ball with their rackets. Others have opted for a different kind of demonstration, hitting balls against walls in the street, in parking lots, or even in bedrooms or on staircases. Fourteen-year-old Vittoria and eleven-year-old Carola put on a remarkable display, facing off against each other on opposite buildings and playing a match that rivals those played on professional tennis courts. Their coach, Dionisio Poggi, said: "It was their idea. They know each other very well; they're friends and neighbors."
