Mont Saint-Michel, or Saint-Michel Mountain, is one of the most iconic landmarks in France and the world. This small, rocky island in Normandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, has been experiencing profound loneliness and isolation since the start of the coronavirus lockdown. From an island that attracts more than 2.5 million visitors annually, especially during weekends, spring, and summer, to a nearly deserted island whose majestic church and picturesque bay have earned it fame and the admiration of millions worldwide, the island's inhabitants alone have borne witness to its charm for months. Since May 11th, it has been possible to visit the island again and walk its paths, but with strict adherence to safety guidelines, primarily wearing masks and following designated routes.
